A. Currently, the latest windows versions Windows XP and Windows Vista are supported. There are however, users using DStar Comms on Windows 2000. Not currently supported on Windows 7

Q. I have setup a HOST for the Network node but nobody can connect to me?

A. If your pc running Dstar Comms is connected to a gateway/firewall then you will need to port forward the chosen port to your pc. This is to allow the incoming connection request to be forwarded to your pc.

There are too many available routers for us to cover the exact configuration for your router but you can get more information on port forwarding here: http://portforward.com/help/portforwarding.htm

Q. I just installed Dstar comms and when I start it I get " Run-time error '339'
Component 'MSCOMCTL.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid.

A. Sometime certain Microsoft Libraries can become unregistered when installing and uninstalling a lot of software. One very common problem is the MSCOMCTL.OCX.

To correct the error, first search your drive for MSCOMCTL.OCX to see if you have it. If not you can download it from HERE

The file should be placed in your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. Or, if you are C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 if you are using WinXP.

Once it is there click START--> RUN and type "REGSVR32 MSCOMCTL.OCX" (No quotes) in the box.
